Help me make my desktop look awesome

Posted by SuperMarioBrosS - November 7th, 2010

Current desktop.

Full-scale picture (link expires in a few hours).

How is my desktop? How can I improve it? Also I avoid bright wallpapers so that it doesn't burn my eyes when I work in the dark.

And yes I have two monitors; it comes real handy while working on the image archive.

i want to have two monitors

It's quite pointless unless you are doing work and NG at once (one monitor for work, one for NG), both for work only, or if you must keep 2 viewable windows open at once.

That looks like one monitor.

I can't detect a line that splits the two desktops.

Nice desktop BTW.

What's really cool is that it follows the mouse :D

A lot of black... good for using the computer in the dark, but it's pretty bland don't you think?

Patch your system.

Change toolbars and the start menu and everything else, and remove anything you don't need.

Organize your start menu's All Programs list. Accessories, System, Games, Internet and a few others are all you need.

When you get it right, you get something like my desktop. It's not Windows XP, but it's still an example of a good desktop.

Plus an annotated version pointing out what I'm doing right.

Jesus christ that's a shit load of steps...

Is all that REALLY necessary just to do some Newgrounds work and school work?

Yes. Yes it is.
